Be careful about what you didn’t ask for
Canadians are being manipulated again but I doubt most of them noticed.
Just 5 days ago I asked if Voting really mattered. Canadians voted for a trade deal with the US. Instead, they got a 100-year commitment to launder more tax money through the Ukraine. Then days later we got something else that no one voted for, EU membership.
To be clear this has not yet happened, and it is not full membership. EU President Ursula von der Leyen has offered associate membership, a status that does not exist and that she apparently had no authority to offer.
Brussels was hit with a furious backlash today after announcing unprecedented plans for Canada to become an ‘associate member’ of the bloc – without asking EU capitals to sign off on the proposal.
EU diplomats told the Mail they were kept in the dark and first learnt of the proposal when Ursula von der Leyen, the EU Commission boss, unveiled it during a keynote speech.
Ursula von der Leyen achieved power the same way the dictators of the old Soviet Union achieved power. She was elected by the party so to speak. Von der Leyen was elected by the European parliament without ever standing for public office. So, the citizens of the European Union have never been allowed to cast a vote for her. Mark Carney’s rise to the Canadian Throne is only marginally more democratic. Unlike Von der Leyen Carney did face the voters and won an election. He won a minority government but then went on to secure a majority government by bribing opposition politicians to cross the floor and join his party.
So, 2 people with only a veneer of Democratic legitimacy made a back room deal that affects the life of 500 million people, almost none of whom were allowed to for either person. Isn’t democracy wonderful? But this isn’t a post about how Carney or Von der Leyan abused democracy. This is a post about how mark Carney SKILLFULLY abused democracy for his own selfish ideological ends.

Mark Carney hates Canada. He has spent much of his adult life outside Canada. Carney does not invest in Canada, doesn’t own property in Canada, and none of his family, including his wife, live in Canada. In short Carney was a horrible choice for Canadian Prime Minister but Canadians excel at making horrible choices. On the other hand, Carney loves Europe. He finished his education in Europe years, still holds 2 European passports, and spent years living and working in Europe. Mark Carney would far rather be in Europe but even he understands moving the Canadian Prime minister’s office to Europe would probably only be acceptable to 40% of Canadians.
Carney won’t, however, be deterred. If he can’t move to Europe he will do the next best thing. He will make Canada part of Europe. The only problem Carney had was convincing Canadians joining a group of stagnating economies with a stifling bureaucracy was a good idea. There is not enough lipstick in the world to make the EU pig look attractive, so Carney did the next best thing. He made it the only option. The EU became the only woman in the bar at closing time after Carney blew up trade relations with the United States.
Carney is now trying to integrate Canada into the European Union, a move that would surely entail a loss of sovereignty and independence far greater than anything we could surrender to America.
There were calls for Carney to resign when he was again accused of playing politics by warning that Brexit would cause a recession in Britain. Carney’s forecast was wrong and the U.K. never entered a recession because of Brexit,
we are being driven into the arms of an economic, political and bureaucratic behemoth by a prime minister who has shown himself besotted with the EU and not afraid to use Project Fear to achieve his ends.
This was the plan all along. Create a trade crisis and present joining Europe as the only option to fix the crisis. This was evil and par for the course for Canadian politics. This incredibly stupid idea has full support from the uni-party. Carney didn’t even need to beg to get a CONSERVATIVE former Prime Minister to back his play.
“It is clear that the current U.S. administration views our level of economic integration as incompatible with our separate sovereignty,” Harper said. “Thus to maintain that sovereignty, we must pursue diminished reliance on the United States.”
Canadians have not learned anything from COVID. Crises are created for the solution not the other way around. COVID should have taught us that when a politician wants something, it is a bad idea. When politicians line up to read off the same retarded script, it is a very bad idea. And make no mistake about it, this is a very retarded script. You would need to be functionally brain dead to believe a trade deal with the US threatens our sovereignty more than allowing the EU to tax us, set our immigration policies, set our environmental policies, and give their corrupt courts veto rights over our already corrupt courts.
For Ukraine, Merz proposed an associate EU membership that would include participation in EU decision making bodies and meetings but with no right to vote; limited participation in the EU budget; full alignment with the bloc’s foreign and security policy; and a mutual defence commitment that obliges EU member states to rally to Ukraine’s side.
In return for the trade and economic benefits, an associate member would need to align with or adopt EU laws and abide by court rulings, allow free movement of people and make contributions to EU programs and budgets.
Associate membership does not exist, but it has been offered to and rejected by the Ukraine. It carried all the obligations of full membership but no voting rights. Even a coke head like Zelensky recognized what a bad deal it was. But apparently Mark Carney hates Canada more than Zelensky hates the country he has been robbing blind for the last 7 years.
