Nostalgia is not enough
Yesterday the Parti Quebecois won the Quebec provincial election. The Parti Quebecois is a separatist party that had 2 independence votes when they held power in 1980 and 1995. The current Parti has again promised a vote within 2 years. Why wait?
One reason given for the wait is the current trade war with the US. So, again why wait? Why do you care that Canada is in a trade war when you are leaving Canada anyway? Wouldn’t you want to distance yourself from the trade war and start fresh with the Americans? Of course you would. The parti Quebecois is postponing the vote precisely because they do not intend to leave. The vote is just an extortion attempt.
It could be argued that the first 2 votes were also nothing more than extortion events. They were used as an excuse for politicians to spend money, some of which went to Quebec. The threat wasn’t real, but the money transfer was. No one believed that Quebec would leave then, and no one believes they will leave now. That is why Quebec independence is treated so differently than Alberta Independence. The media calls the movement in Quebec sovereigntist and the movement in Alberta traitorous.
Alberta Independence advocates have met with American officials to discuss what a relationship with the US could look like after independence. More than 80% of Alberta’s exports go to the US so it would be stupid not to have these conversations. But this simple act of thinking ahead make Alberta separatists traitors even though Quebec had the exact same conversations with France before their previous referendums.
When Quebec previously threatened to leave there was an outpouring of love. Not much has been said about their current threat which is stark contrast with how Canadians have reacted to Alberta’s upcoming October 19th referendum. Independence supporters have received nothing but hate. Telling people you hate them is an odd way to convince them to stay, but it makes as much sense as a trade war with an economy 13 times larger than yours. Canadians have an irrational, consuming hate for Donald Trump and Alberta sovereigntists. Which, I guess, means that they hate me.
I will vote for independence on October 19th. The popular narrative from Canadians who oppose independence, AKA maple Maoists, is that I am stupid and misguided. I have been influenced by foreign governments, specifically Donald Trump’s administration. They are partially correct. I have been influenced by what I consider a foreign government. That would be the Canadian federal government in Ottawa.
Ottawa is 3,300 Km (2100 miles) from where I live. It is the capital city of Canada with the highest average income in the country despite that it produces nothing of value. It is a city full of parasites that do not know me and clearly do not like me. I consider Ottawa to be a hostile foreign government. It is Ottawa that has convinced me to leave, not Washington, not Trump, not Putin. I don’t want to just leave Canada I want to leave a corrupt federal government so far away from me that they might as well be in another country. I want to leave behind;
- The liberal government of Jean Chrétien handed out million-dollar advertising contracts to friends and family to produce ads during Quebec’s 1995 referendum campaign. No ads were ever produced but tens of millions went missing.
- Catherine Mckenna who was environment minister under Justin Trudeau and somehow “misplaced” 83 billion dollars.
- The Trudeau Liberal government, who were exposed by independent journalist Andy Lee to have spent more than 100 million dollars on contracts with companies that do not appear to have any employees.
- A Liberal government that started a new dental program only to chew up (no pun intended) 97% of the money in “administration” costs.
- The same Liberal government that hired an independent contractor to run a COVID vaccine injury program by taking twice as much money from taxpayers than the vaccine injured received.
- Mark Carney, who gave his wife 1.2 billion dollars to preserve Oceans. How the hell will we ever prove that money had any impact on Ocean Preservation?

Let’s Call it what it is. All of this is theft. Ottawa politicians have been robbing Canadian taxpayers blind. All these problems listed were Liberal governments. While Liberals have been by far the worst offenders changing the government will not solve anything because of the last thing I want Alberta to separate from. Most of all I want Alberta to leave behind all the insane Maple Maoists. I am speaking about people like this idiot who thinks Canada would be more affordable if the band of thieves in Ottawa just had more money to spend.
Meanwhile, Canadians under 30, or 40, or even 50, are struggling to afford housing, raise families or simply stay in the cities where they were born. They are stuck at the bottom of the ladder of life,
The only way to fix the problem is to attack it head-on: by redirecting some of seniors’ considerable benefits to younger people in far greater need.
Stapleton has his own ideas about how to support younger Canadians. The first would be to tax wealth directly, including inheritances and large capital gains.
The solution to a Maple Maoist is always to find someone who has more than them and confiscate their wealth. These people are just useful idiots for the thieves in Ottawa who would love to get their hands on more money. It seems impossible to overfeed those parasites. Canada will not change because quite frankly the average Canadian is also a parasite, but a very lazy one compared to politicians. Canadian politicians actively find new ways to steal while the average Maple Maoists is content to wait for the government to steal and demand a small piece of it.
I really can’t find a reason to stay in a country where my assets are seen as community property by the citizens and future personal assets by the politicians.

Amen.
