You cannot save people who refuse to be saved
Georges Clemenceau: “Any man who is not a socialist at age twenty has no heart. Any man who is still a socialist at age forty has no head.”
That quote or a variation of it has been attributed to many different authors. I always thought it was Churchill but google says otherwise. Google is hardly a reliable source, but I have no other so today it belongs to George Clemenceau.
Perhaps the reason why so many have used variations of it is that it is the truth. Socialism sounds nice. The government will take care of everyone. Young people can be forgiven for believing that because they have not lived long enough to see government do so many truly evil things. But as you age you realize allowing the government to have that much control never ends well. That is why as people age, they tend to be less socialist.
We are living in kind of a unique time now. It was predominately young people who lost their jobs during the government lockdowns. Now it is young people struggling to find work because the government subsidizes business that hire migrants rather than young people. Since 2020 young people have been given a crash course in how evil government can be.
60 might be the new 40 but it is also true that 25 is the new 40. Increasingly around the world young and old are voting for right wing parties. Everywhere except Canada.
The poll is yet more evidence of a uniquely Canadian phenomenon of young people becoming increasingly right-wing while the reverse happens among their elders.
Canada is an open-air insane asylum. There is something in the cold air that makes people more delusional with time. Older Canadians should know better but they cling to the belief that government is their friend. They refuse to see the evidence that government is a parasite. Mark Carney is riding all time popularity highs as he steals taxpayers blind. He just formed a new government body, funded it with 1.2 billion and appointed his wife to run it.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced $1.2 billion in federal funding for ocean protections Tuesday, as the country moves toward decisions on a new pipeline to the West Coast and the expansion of a major port in Metro Vancouver.
That 1.2 billion is gone. Canadian politicians, especially Liberal politicians have a long history of stealing from taxpayers, but it is usually not this overt. They don’t usually hold press conferences to let us know they are handing 1.2 billion to their spouse who doesn’t even live in Canada. Carney blatantly stole and Canadians could not be less concerned. I don’t know why Canadians can’t see what the rest of the world sees. Mark Carney will not save us. He is a card-carrying member of the parasite class.
Argentina president Javier Milei calls Mark Carney part of a Bureaucracy of “Parasites”

Milei is spot on with his assessment. Canada was once a near great country but not anymore. It is not hard to find polls that still rank Canada positively, but those polls are based on opinions of people who remember what Canada once was and not what Canada is now. Clear eyed people viewing Canada now don’t find anything near greatness.
It’s sad. I love the idea of Canada. Our polite little brother whom we tease, but would fiercely protect from others. That is, for now, gone as a possibility.
That Canada is no more. Frankly, I wouldn’t want it as a 51st state, with its sclerotic economy, its love of bureaucracy and central planning, and its inflated self-esteem married to mediocrity.

I have written many times about the problems Canada has inflicted upon itself, but I don’t think I was ever able to describe Canada a succinctly as that, “inflated self-esteem married to mediocrity”. That description should be printed on our flag and added to our national anthem.
Canadians are not just proud of their mediocrity they are more than willing to accept tyranny as they proved during COVID. There is a tiny minority in Canada that is neither insane nor willing to accept tyranny, but it doesn’t matter. The majority keep voting for it and the courts keep enforcing it. Like this judge who ruled that Vaccine injured Canadians should have no recourse from the politicians that forced the vaccine on them.
We are deeply disappointed by the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta’s decision to dismiss the application to certify Sakamoto v Attorney General of Canada, a proposed class action against the Government of Canada and the Province of Alberta.
Or this liberal lunatic in robes that took it upon themselves to re-write Canadian law. Thanks to this person, who has no business on the bench, drug dealers now have the right to sell drugs in Canada.
Murray finally arrived at her answer this week: the Canadian ban on trafficking drugs violates the Charter right to life, liberty and security, as well as the right to equality under the law. In Murray’s view, the prohibition on drug trafficking imposed discriminatory hardship upon drug addicts, whose addiction she considered a disability.
Canada is broken and can’t be fixed. Canadians don’t want it, and Lunatic liberal judges would never allow it. Some day historians and economists will study Canada. They will wonder why a nation with every conceivable advantage chose self-destruction. I wish them luck, but I doubt they will ever find an answer. I am living thought it and I can’t answer it either.
