The Federal Liberals spend your money to cover their crimes

Justin Trudeau illegally used the emergencies act to crush the Freedom Convoy protest.  Invoking the act was clearly illegal, which eventually a court was forced to admit.  But that did not stop the federal liberals from spending millions appealing one of the few correct Canadian court decisions in decades.

The unanimous judgment, which upheld the lower court’s decision in 2024, is meticulous, devastating, and leaves little room for doubt. Future governments facing political turmoil have been put on clear notice: they cannot casually reach for emergency powers to solve a domestic protest.

The freedom Convoy was disruptive but overwhelmingly peaceful.  That cannot be said of many previous protests that involved vandalism, assaults and even murder.  Yet the government did not resort to the emergencies act or violence to quell those protests.  Politicians were content to let the protest die out and the protesters return home without any criminal charges.

The drastically different treatment of the Freedom Convoy tells you that Canadian governments considered this protest to be different than any previous protest.  Frankly I agree with that assessment.  The Freedom Convoy was far different than any other major protest in Canada.

Most previous Canadian protests fall into the same broad category.  They were special interest or identity groups throwing a hissy fit.  The protesters did not want anything other than attention.  Once they got the attention that they craved, their enthusiasm quickly waned and the protest ended.  The protesters went home feeling very virtuous about the various misdemeanors and felonies they committed.

The Freedom Convoy also wanted attention, but attention was not the goal, it was a tool.  What freedom convoy wanted was a policy discussion.  They were not a bunch of spoiled brats venting for the cameras.  They were adults concerned about the direction of the country.  The federal liberals and Ottawa bureaucracy found this confusing and extremely threatening.

Canadians are just supposed to quietly accept the erosions of their freedoms.  Ottawa was simply not prepared for anyone to speak out.  When it became apparent that this protest would not die out the government had a choice to make.  They could speak to the protesters and address their concerns.  Or they could use violence.  They chose violence and then chose to spend millions defending their illegal actions.

The problem for the Trudeau government was that talking really was not an option.  Justin Trudeau likes to speak.  He loves the sound of his own voice, but his usual inane platitudes would not work. The freedom convoy wanted an adult conversation they even brought along experts to help with it.  It was the experts among their ranks that made any conversation with the Freedom convoy impossible for Trudeau or his government.

A conversation with experts would reveal that covid policies were not based on science.  Rather the policies were part of a larger criminal conspiracy that the Canadian government was part of.  Crimes are committed for love or money.  No one in government at any level loves you.  They don’t even like you.  That leaves only one explanation as to why our governments committed this crime.  We need to start checking bank records before they spend all our money hiding them.
