Will it end with a bang or a whimper?

We are living through the end of western civilization.  I know that because Baroness Heather Hallet said so.  She did not use those exact words, but she did say this.

Former British prime minister Boris Johnson oversaw a “toxic,” “chaotic” and dithering response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a delay in locking the country down resulting in about 23,000 more deaths, a report by a public inquiry concluded on Thursday.

Baroness Hallet chaired the UK COVID inquiry.  Before that she was a lawyer and a judge.  Frankly I find her whole career amazing.  The most amazing thing to me is that she was able to get a law degree despite obviously failing grade school science and being completely unaware of a country called Sweden.

Eliminating Covid was ‘impossible’, according to the architect of Sweden’s anti-lockdown approach.

In an explosive memoir charting the pandemic in his eyes, Dr Anders Tegnell — the nation’s now-former state epidemiologist — said it was obvious the virus would not be over by summer 2020.

As such, shutting down society for so long was off the cards.

Sweden’s strategy defied global consensus, with the Scandinavian nation shunning lockdowns and mask mandates in favour of a lighter-touch approach which relied on trusting residents to use their ‘common sense’.

Proposing strict stay at-home orders, like the ones deployed in Britain, would have shown ‘sloppy’ judgement, Dr Tegnell said. 

Yet, despite doomsday warnings, Sweden escaped the pandemic more favourably.

The 23,000 extra deaths judge Hallet says would not have happened if no one was ever allowed to leave home again are the result of a computer model.  Computer models are not science.  They can be built to provide any answer you want.  You can check any school science textbook, and you will not find computer models as part of the scientific method.  Real science comes from observing and analyzing data in a lab or natural system.  And the data is clear.  Lockdowns kill.

Any Country that reacted sanely did not have much trouble.  COVID amounted to nothing other than a mild flu year.  COVID was only a problem in Countries where politicians made it a problem.  This cannot be stated too many times.  Lockdowns Kill.  That much is clear.  So is it the lethality of lockdowns that makes them so attractive to left wing politicians?

Baroness Hallet is one of the most senior people involved in the justice system in the UK.  She is incredibly stupid or just as corrupt as the average politician.  So yes, when Baroness Hallet tells us that COVID lockdowns should have happened sooner what she is really saying is that western society is doomed.  Our politicians and judiciary are irredeemable stupid and/or corrupt.  There is no way to recover from this.
