Question Experts, question authority, question everything

We live in the era of experts.  I really wish I could say that is a good thing.  Following the advice of experts, on paper at least, is a good idea.  But everything comes off the rails when your experts are not experts.

25 years ago, I started a new job.  I was the manager of a business unit for a resource company.  On my first day I walked from office to office introducing myself.  I stopped in an office to meet an engineer.  He introduced himself to me with the claim that he was a pump expert.  Those were his exact words.  Eventually I let him go because he was useless adjacent.  He had no expertise in anything.

That might seem like a cruel story to retell but I can’t think of a better way to describe our modern technocracy.  Self-appointed experts who are expert in nothing other than self-promotion.  We should not listen to these fake experts, but we do.  We defer to their authority without ever questioning if there is anything behind the authority other than bluster.  That in a nutshell is modern government.  Idiots with bluster.

Where do we go to get back our institutions? Sure, experts misled us about COVID-19, but the real cratering of trust in scientific expertise began when the Left started cynically conflating their climate change theories and modeling with irrefutable hard science.

It all started with climate change.  A bunch of third-rate scientists found fame and fortune by claiming the end is nigh.  Had they stood on a street corner wearing a placard we would have laughed at them.  But they came carrying degrees and we deferred to their authority.  What a mistake.

The theory of anthropogenic global warming is just that, a theory.  No one has proven it.  In fact, most of the data disproves it.  The fake experts though cleverly changed the name from global warming to climate change and declared it a fact.  Suddenly it was no longer a disproven theory it was scientific dogma taught in universities.

We didn’t push back on the obviously false narrative.  Financially our inaction was incredibly costly.  While we deferred to the fake experts the real criminals fleeced us for 16 trillion dollars.

Environmental scholar Bjorn Lomborg recently calculated that across the globe, governments have spent at least $16 trillion feeding the climate change industrial complex.

Since the global warming crusade started some 30 years ago, the temperature of the planet has not been altered by one-tenth of a degree — as even the alarmists will admit.

In other words, $16 trillion has been spent — a lot of people got very, very rich off the government largesse — but there is not a penny of measurable payoff.

Global warming is the longest running, most expensive fraud in history.  It has never been fueled by science.  It has been kept alive by fake experts arguing from authority.  We are not allowed to point out that the experts are lying.

You would think after losing 16 trillion dollars we would have learned a lesson.  Maybe the rest of the world has but Canada certainly has not.  Canadians just elected a Prime Minister because he is an “expert” economist.  Canadians are so enamored by Mark Carney’s PHD that they think he is an expert in everything.  Except in true technocratic tradition, it turns out Carney is not an expert in anything, and it is starting to show.

Canada’s foreign policy under Prime Minister Mark Carney is being sold as pragmatic, sophisticated, and globally minded. In reality, it is incoherent, unserious, and increasingly detached from Canada’s national interest. It reflects the same Liberal instinct that defined the Trudeau government and prioritizes moral posturing over power, symbolism over strategy, and international applause over outcomes.

We need stop listening to the “experts”.  When our problems get larger each year rather than smaller it is time to admit the “experts” are just idiots.  They are not, however, ordinary idiots.  The self-proclaimed experts and elite are the most dangerous kind of idiots. They are Idiots who think they are geniuses that wield power.  Western politicians and bureaucrats are unintelligent children playing with guns.

We can do better.
