The question remains; will we punish COVID criminals?
Something remarkable happened in Canada this week. A Canadian court followed the law for the second time on the same issue. Rarely do Canadian courts choose the law over progressive politics and when they do the decision is ultimately reversed by judges further up the corruption totem pole. But not this time. A federal court of appeals has upheld an earlier correct decision that Justin Trudeau illegally invoked the emergencies act to crush a protest.
The Liberal government unreasonably invoked the Emergencies Act to clear the convoy protests that gridlocked the capital city and border points nearly four years ago, the Federal Court of Appeal ruled on Friday.
You do not need to be a lawyer to know that Trudeau broke the law. You just need to understand the English language and read the act. The federal emergencies act is very specific as to when it can be applied. There must be a threat of mass casualties or the governance of the country. The freedom convoy came nowhere near that high bar which the judge pointed out in his decision.
“As disturbing and disruptive the blockades and the convoy protests in Ottawa could be, they fell well short of a threat to national security,” wrote the three judges on the appeal court.
As you might surmise from the title and content of this blog, I am very critical of the government COVID response. I started this blog to present information and analysis countering the very one-sided media narrative. My goal was to try and tamp down fear. It was obvious to me that the government was using fear rather than science or logic to justify their actions. If people stopped being afraid the government would lose control of a very false narrative.
I tilted electronically at the COVID/government dragon for months with little success. It seemed that Canadians preferred to be afraid and subservient to politicians who had no regard for the public. Then the freedom convoy happened. It filled me and many others with hope.
I donated money to the first fund. When that evil nitwit Trudeau froze that fund, I donated twice as much to the second fund. When Trudeau illegally invoked the emergencies act, I took the next step. I got in my truck and headed for Ottawa. Canada is however a very large country. By the time I arrived in the center of Canadian evil, Ottawa, protesters had already been trampled with horses.
The freedom Convoy offered hope. When our criminal Prime Minister illegally invoked the emergencies act to crush people who would not stay quiet, I also had hope. I hoped that I would not be alone on the highway. My hope was that a million Canadians would do what I was doing and head to Ottawa. If the nightly news showed images of jammed highways leading to Ottawa not a single protest would have been abused. We would not have endured the longest, most expensive mischief trial in our history.
But it did not happen. Canadians sat at home because Canadians are far too comfortable with corrupt governments. The freedom convoy exposed both the best and worst our country has to offer and it is not over. For 4 years Politicians have gotten away with breaking the law. Our current Prime Minister was one of the backroom power brokers pushing for the illegal application of the act. Will he be punished for his part in the criminal conspiracy?
Canadians can show the world they still know right from wrong. Will they take this opportunity, or will they choose to do nothing again?
