Canadian voters are their own worst enemy
By world standards Canada is a wealthy country. The problem as I see it is that Canada should be far wealthier than it is.
Canada possesses some of the world’s largest reserves of energy, minerals, farmland, timber, and fresh water. It should be one of the strongest economies in the Western world. Instead, policymakers have spent years trying to engineer growth through government spending while simultaneously undermining the productive sectors that generate wealth.
Canada will never reach its potential because our extremely poor governments will never allow it.
When it is not busy trying to exterminate its citizens, the Canadian government is taxing the hell out of them … and it is using that money not to prevent an invasion by foreigners, but to give the invaders free stuff, like education and health care. Parts of Toronto and Montreal, among other cities, have already been conquered.

During COVID I often asked the same question about various politicians; “are they stupid or are they evil”. Most of the time it was too difficult to tell because the end results of stupidity and evil are the same; people suffer.
I wish I could say that the problem of incompetent and downright evil politicians was a uniquely Canadian problem, but it is not. It is a problem for most of the western world. This description of the UK could have been used to describe Canada or almost any other country in Europe.
The pattern is familiar because history is full of examples. Centralized governments always believe they possess superior wisdom. They assume local populations are incapable of making decisions for themselves. They insist that every problem can be solved through regulations, mandates, quotas, and directives. Then they are shocked when public anger explodes.
Public anger has not exploded yet, but it is simmering in the UK. There might be hope in the UK but not in Canada. Canadians are convinced the government is headed in the right direction even as the country slides into recession.
OTTAWA — The number of Canadians who believe the country is heading in the right direction has hit its highest percentage since 2017, according to a new poll from Abacus Data.
The poll published Sunday said that 47 per cent of people believe Canada is heading in the right direction, while 39 per cent say the country is on the wrong track.
Apparently, the right direction according to 47% of Canadians is down. That really is the crux of the problem isn’t it. Politicians are terrible people who do terrible things. It is up to voters to keep politicians in check, but Canadian voters consistently refuse to do that. No matter how bad things get we keep voting for the people who caused the problems.
“Every country has the government it deserves.”
Joseph de Maistre
“The government you elect is the government you deserve.”
Thomas Jefferson
It is tough to admit but Canadians deserve this. Politicians only do those incredibly stupid and evil things that we allow them to do. We voted for this which means we chose to forgo wealth. How stupid is that?
