Tribalism trumps Multi-culturalism
Last week an illegal migrant from India caused a crash that killed 3 Americans. To me that is not an interesting part of the story. Illegal migrants doing stupid, dangerous, criminal things is now so common it is hardly newsworthy. To me the most interesting and important part of the story is what happened later. After the crash millions of his fellow Indians signed a petition demanding leniency.
Harneet Singh illegally entered the US, somehow got certification for a job that he was not qualified for, and his criminal actions resulted in 3 deaths. No one should support this, yet millions of Indians did. They just don’t think he did anything wrong. What a stunning repudiation of Multi-Culturalism. Given the choice between the safety of the citizens of the country that adopted them or one of their own, they choose one of their own.
Humans are tribal in nature. The hierarchy goes, family, tribe, then all others. The people who support Harneet Singh do not believe in multi-culturalism. They believe in supporting their own people and their own culture that accepts corruption and criminal behavior as just the way things work. The reality is that no one believes in multiculturalism. Not even the rich white liberals that virtue signal about it. Rich white Liberals love multiculturalism when it affects others. But, when it washes up on their shores as it did to the well-heeled residents of Martha’s Vineyard, they shut that shit down real quick.
It is evident that no one believes in multiculturalism but anyone who dares say so is branded as a racist even though culture is not race. You cannot join another race, but you can join another tribe or Culture. This profanity laced interview is a perfect example of that.
If you listened to the interview with your eyes closed, you would swear the speaker is a white redneck, but he is not. It is a great example of how assimilation should work. The trucker is a second-generation immigrant from India, but he identifies as Canadian. He is not some hyphenated Canadian with dual loyalties. His loyalty lies with Canada; a point he makes multiple times. He has left his old tribe and joined a new tribe completely. That Tribe welcomed him with open arms because he has become one of them.
This is how immigration should work. Assimilation is the only option. Multiculturalism will destroy a country. The only thing more dangerous to a country than multiculturalism are the politicians that support multiculturalism.
