Follow the science with a jaundiced eye

A study was released in March linking the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine to auto immune diseases.  This is just one more paper documenting the harm that was done to citizens by the medical establishment and the government.

It is not difficult to find papers like this.  COVID vaccine injuries are so varied and common that detailing the harm has become a sort of scientific cottage industry.  What is difficult to find are papers documenting any benefits.  To be fair there are a handful of papers claiming the COVID vaccines saved lives.  But they all start with the false assumption that everyone on earth would have died with COVID without the vaccines.  Those papers are not science, they are marketing.  At best they are clumsy political science.

After 5 years clearly the risk reward balance for these products is overwhelmingly negative.  So why do we still use them?  Or more importantly why has no one apologized for being so horribly wrong?  There are two answers to that last question.  Some will never apologize because they just don’t care.  Their objective was to make money, and they achieved their objective.  You were just collateral damage.

The other reason is just momentum.  Following “the science” often leads down the wrong road for a very long time until some maverick appears and points out the scientific parade is headed in the wrong direction.  But it is hard to turn the scientific ship around.  The history of science is that these mavericks often are ridiculed during their lifetime.  Their vindication often only arrives after their death.

This is what is happening now with COVID vaccines.  No one is listening to the mavericks, everyone is just following the crowd.  It is just one more example of how the scientific establishment is loath to admit they are wrong.  You would think by now scientists would have learned a little humility.  They are not demi-gods, and they do not have all the answers.  But instead of admitting their mistakes the establishment prefers to shout down and ridicule anyone who exposes the mistakes.

Medical science has made extensive use of ridicule and directed it against curiosity and open-mindedness. The profession desperately needs to learn humility. Accountability and apology for extensive harms are difficult to find. 

There is nothing about a science degree or a lab coat that imparts divine wisdom to a scientist.  Scientists are human prone to all the human frailties.  They would do well to remember that.  The public needs to remember this as well.  Never “follow the science” without a healthy dose of skepticism.  Your very life could depend on it.
