Long live Freedom, Damn it

The United Nations held its annual general meeting this week.  Various leaders took the podium to ramble on about things that make no difference to anyone in the world other than the bureaucrats in the room listening to them.  The UN is a shining example of what has gone wrong with western society.  The UN started with a noble goal.  Prevent wars through diplomacy.  It failed spectacularly.

Instead of preventing wars the UN has spent decades inventing reasons to transfer authority to a bunch of useless bureaucrats.  They will use any flimsy excuse to control how other nations think and behave.  In short nothing good has every come from the UN which is likely why Canadians value it so much.

The UN pushes the fiction that the world is far too complex for ordinary people to understand so big decisions should be left to the experts.  You know the same experts that got absolutely everything about COVID wrong and who continue to get everything about climate change wrong.  The experts and technocrats have produced nothing but misery but there is hope.  Some countries are choosing to ignore the UN and carve their own path.  One such country is Argentina and their president, Javier Milei, gave the only speech that mattered.

Argentina has made many mistakes.  Even after bankrupting the country, they continued to make the same mistakes.  The country has defaulted on their debt an astounding 9 times.  But with Milei things are changing.  Milei has cut government and clipped the wings of the moronic technocrats that bankrupted the country 9 times.  Argentina is now growing and there is hope for the Argentinian people.

Canadians should take heed of what Milei is doing because Canada is making the same mistakes that led to multiple bankruptcies and decades of misery in Argentina.  The only growth industry in Canada is government, and mark Carney is moving Canada quickly to a centrally planned economy.  Carney is a UN technocrat who believes that the answer to every problem is government intervention.  He just can’t see that it is the government that is causing the problems in the first place.

Government is not the solution.  At best government impedes the solution.  At worst government is the problem.  The more government the less freedom.  The less freedom the less prosperity.  It took Argentina a long tome to figure that out.  It is too bad Canadian must touch the stove to know that it is hot.  Why can’t they take the easy route and learn from Argentina’s mistakes?
