A new low for Canada

Another chapter of the greatest crime in history closed this week in Canada.  Freedom Convoy organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber received their sentences for the heinous crime of embarrassing the government.

Tamara Lich is not going to jail.

Nor is her Freedom Convoy sidekick Chris Barber.

But they will be under house arrest. And not just for a couple of weeks but a whole year.

Some people are relieved that neither person received actual jail time but how was that even possible in the first place?  How could you be threatened with jail for a peaceful protest when Canadian courts routinely refuse to jail even violent criminals?

There are so many double standards here. Many other protests turned into violence where fires burned and property was damaged, but harsher justice was administered to some of those who were protesting COVID-19 mandates, It’s also lost on few that so many criminals with far more serious crimes have received far less in terms of length of trial, effort of the Crown and sentencing.

These are certainly stiffer sentences than some parliamentarians have received. For example, in 2021, former Liberal Kitchener South-Hespeler MP Marwan Tabbara was handed a conditional discharge and placed on probation for three years after his guilty plea was entered for two charges of assault on a man and a woman in Guelph. He also pleaded guilty to the amended charge of “unlawfully” being “in a dwelling” or home

Conservative Sen. Patrick Brazeau was given an absolute discharge in 2015 on his guilty plea to assault and narcotics counts, which allowed him not to serve time or gain a criminal record.

If it wasn’t for double standards Canada would have no standards at all.  In the last 2 weeks 2 men were given lighter sentences FOR RAPE AND MANSLAUGHTER because of their indigenous backgrounds.  Why didn’t this also apply to Tamara Lich?  Lich is Metis.  She has just as much native blood as those men yet at no time did anyone mention that Lich should be treated leniently because of Galdue.

Identity politics is the most important factor in Canada right up until the moment you embarrass the government.  If you make that mistake, the color of your skin or your virtue signaling social media posts will not save you.  The government will spare no expense to make an example out of you.

COVID is the largest crime in history.  5 years later not a single participant has been punished.  The only people who have been punished are those who tried to expose the crime.  They will do it again and by punishing Barber and Lich they are laying the groundwork to silence any future opposition.
